33 Preface وَآتَيناهُم مِنَ الآياتِ ما فيهِ بَلاءٌ مُبينٌYusuf AliAnd granted them Signs1 in which there was a manifest trialAmong the “Signs” given to Israel were their own Revelation under Moses, their prosperous land of Canaan, their flourishing Kingdom under David and Solomon, their prophets and teachers of Truth, and the advent of Jesus to reclaim the lost ones among them. All these were trials. When they failed in the trials, they were left to wander desolate and suffer.
