15 Preface وَاللّاتي يَأتينَ الفاحِشَةَ مِن نِسائِكُم فَاستَشهِدوا عَلَيهِنَّ أَربَعَةً مِنكُم ۖ فَإِن شَهِدوا فَأَمسِكوهُنَّ فِي البُيوتِ حَتّىٰ يَتَوَفّاهُنَّ المَوتُ أَو يَجعَلَ اللَّهُ لَهُنَّ سَبيلًاAli Quli QaraiShould any of your women commit an indecent act,1 produce against them four witness from yourselves, and if they testify, detain them2 in [their] houses until death finishes them, or Allah decrees a course for them.3 That is, adultery.That is, the women against whom testimony has been given.Superseded by the punishment by stoning for adultery and by verse 24:2 which prescribes the punishment for fornication.
